The Erasmus Trio will be celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2026, praised as a tight trio that complements each other beautifully. Today marks the start of their anniversary tour with classics of film music.

The international Erasmus Trio ‘lives’ in Almere and consists of violinist Vera Laporeva, cellist Xiaojia Xu and pianist Thomas Herrmann.

It all started in Germany, where the trio first took part in a youth competition in January 1991 and immediately won prizes. After winning a prize at the International Charles Hennen Competition and making their debut in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Erasmus Trio remained in the Netherlands. Now in Almere, and since 2017 with their own concert hall.

The trio is named after the cosmopolitan and freethinker Desiderius Erasmus. Like Erasmus, the trio, consisting of a German pianist, a Belarusian violinist and a Chinese cellist, has always been open to new ideas and impulses and is still fresh, lively and full of ideas. The trio is therefore one of the leading piano trios in Europe.
